Mark Pitman won over 300 races during his ten year riding career, many at the top level, and was leading jockey at the prestigious Aintree festival. In 1991 Jenny and Mark combined to almost pull off the unique double of winning the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the Aintree Grand National in the same season. Garrison Savannah had a hard fought battle to seize the Gold Cup before going on to finish a gallant 2nd to Seagram in the Aintree showpiece. When Mark switched to training he made an immediate impact when his first runner won at Worcester. He trained the Hennessy Gold Cup winner, Ever Blessed, and also bought and trained the Champion Novice hurdler, Monsignor, who won at two consecutive Cheltenham festivals where he still holds the track record. In Mark’s nine year training career he won over 220 races, many at the highest level. |
